The objective was to design a publication book with regards to what our local Singaporeans think as they walk around the neighbourhood. When I think of our neighbourhood, the word "void deck" pops up straight away. As a Singaporean, I believe that we build most of our memories at the void deck.

It is an open communal space located on the ground floor of most of Singapore’s 10,000 HDB blocks. They are the spaces of fun as you can often see youth strumming guitar, boys playing football, elderly playing chess, the spaces of joy where Malays would hold their weddings at the void deck, and the spaces of grief where Chinese would use the void deck for funerals.

During recent years, there have been some changes to the void deck. With this publication produce, I hope that it inspires you to venture out and start exploring them before it vanishes.
